Carl D. Peterson (born May 26, 1943)^[1] is an American former college and professional footballcoach and executive in the National Football League (NFL).

He began his career as a coach at UCLA and later became the assistant general manager for the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1988 he was hired as the president and general manager of the Kansas City Chiefs where he spent the majority of his career.^{[citation needed]}

Peterson was active in American football for more than 50 years.
