  • Rashbam (רשב"ם) is a Hebrew acronym for Rabbi Shmuel ben Meir (c. 1085 - c. 1158). He was the grandson and student of the great Jewish biblical commentator Rashi. Like his grandfather, he was a biblical commentator and Talmudist of the first rank.

    Born near Troyes, France, his mother was Yocheved, the daughter of Rashi, and his father was Meir ben Shmuel.
